TEHRAN — A senior Iranian government official issued a bold challenge to Washington today, telling Bloomberg that the Islamic Republic is prepared to endure the ongoing U.S. naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
The official dismissed the impact of President Trump’s recent port restrictions, asserting that Tehran’s financial and resource cushions are sufficient to withstand the economic onslaught.
“We want the world to watch who can truly withstand the blockade,” the official stated. “Let us see who this economic pressure breaks first. Iran possesses reserves that ensure we will not be affected by the port blockades imposed by Trump.”
The comments signal a deepening resolve in Tehran as the maritime standoff in one of the world’s most vital energy corridors continues to escalate.
