CHINA โ A devastating explosion at the Huasheng fireworks factory in Hunan Province has left at least 26 people dead and 61 others injured, according to Chinese state media. The blast, which occurred Monday afternoon in southern Liuyang, was so powerful that authorities were forced to evacuate everyone within a 3-kilometer (1.9-mile) radius of the facility to prevent further casualties.
A massive rescue operation involving over 1,500 emergency responders, supported by search dogs, drones, and specialized robots, was deployed to the scene. Rescuers successfully pulled seven survivors from the debris, though the operation faced extreme risks due to two nearby warehouses containing highly flammable materials. To mitigate the danger of a secondary explosion,
teams worked to dampen the surrounding area while securing the site.Police have launched a formal investigation into the cause of the disaster and have reportedly taken “control measures” against the company’s management. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding industrial safety standards in high-risk manufacturing sectors.
