Somalia Becomes Member of the African Peer Review Mechanism
The Federal Government of Somalia has officially joined the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), a voluntary governance monitoring framework established by the African Union to promote accountability, transparency, and good governance among its member states.
Somaliaโs accession to the APRM was formalized during the 35th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the APRM Forum, held in Addis Ababa.
The agreement was officially signed by Somaliaโs President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The APRM is a voluntary mechanism through which governments agree to undergo periodic evaluations of their policies, institutions, and governance systems.
The process allows member states to assess one another and share best practices aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, improving public sector management, and enhancing socio-economic development.
Somaliaโs membership signals a commitment to advancing governance reforms and aligning with continental standards designed to foster sustainable political and economic progress.
