The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier will “continue its operations” in the Red Sea. This decision comes amid ongoing uncertainty regarding the state of the conflict and the fragile ceasefire currently in place between Iran and the United States.
This announcement coincides with reports from several U.S. media outlets this morning, including the Washington Post, which indicated that the process for the ship’s return to the U.S. has begun. The worldโs largest aircraft carrier is reportedly nearing the end of a record-setting 10-month deployment in the region.
