Heavy Security Operation Crushes ISIS Cells in Puntland’s Calmiskaad Region
security forces have dealt a major blow to ISIS-linked militants during an intensive counterterrorism operation in the Calmiskaad mountains, resulting in the arrest of at least 20 fighters.
Officials confirmed that several of the captured suspects are foreign nationals from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Ethiopia, Syria, and Tanzania, highlighting the international nature of the group operating in the area.
The Puntland forces, backed by intelligence and logistical support from the United Arab Emirates and the United States, have successfully cleared ISIS elements from key locations in Calmiskaad.
Authorities say the operation is now entering its final phase.After years of sustained efforts by the Puntland administration, officials believe this marks the near end of ISIS’s presence in the region.
The operation is expected to restore security and open the door to stability and development in areas previously controlled by the group.
