TEHRAN — Iran has issued a direct and aggressive warning to foreign militaries, specifically targeting the United States, following Washington’s pledge to escort stranded vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. A top Iranian military commander stated on Monday that any foreign force, particularly what he termed the “invading American army,” will face an immediate attack if they attempt to enter or approach the strategic waterway.
Maj. Gen. Ali Abdollahi, head of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, declared that Tehran remains the sole authority over the strait’s security. He urged all commercial ships and oil tankers to avoid transiting the area without direct coordination with Iranian forces, warning that failure to do so would put their safety at risk.
Abdollahi further cautioned that any “aggressive action” by the U.S. to alter the current situation would only escalate regional tensions and further endanger international shipping. This defiance comes as a direct response to President Trump’s recent announcement of a U.S. plan to forcefully release tankers currently caught in the maritime blockade.
