New intelligence reports and emerging information have revealed what is described as a sensitive agreement between the government of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and theโ
United Arab Emirates, amid ongoing instability in the Horn of Africa and the Middle East.
Military Base Near Sudan BorderAccording to multiple informed sources, the agreement reportedly led to the establishment of a heavily equipped military facility inside Ethiopia, near the border with Sudan.
The base is said to be used for training fighters affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the paramilitary group engaged in conflict with Sudanโs national army since the outbreak of the countryโs civil war.
The facility is reportedly located in Ethiopiaโs remote Benishangul-Gumuz region and is believed to have the capacity to host up to 10,000 fighters.
If confirmed, this would represent one of the most significant external dimensions of the Sudan conflict to date.
UAE Allegedly Provided Funding and TrainersAt least eight sources, including a senior Ethiopian government official,
have reportedly confirmed that the UAE financed the construction of the base and deployed military trainers to support operations at the site.
If independently verified, these claims would constitute the first direct evidence of Ethiopiaโs alleged involvement in Sudanโs internal conflict โ a development that could further complicate regional security dynamics.
Regional ImplicationsThe reported development comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tension in the Horn of Africa.
Earlier this year, Somalia announced the termination of all bilateral security and defense agreements with the United Arab Emirates, signaling shifting alliances and growing friction within the region.
Neither Ethiopian nor Emirati authorities have publicly responded to the latest allegations.
Further updates are expected as more details emerge.
