Jerusalem – Cabinet Meeting Remarks Signal Strategic Realignment
During the opening session of Israel’s cabinet meeting today,
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined what he described as a comprehensive vision to establish a broad alliance system linking partners across the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Africa.
According to his remarks, the proposed framework would include India, Arab states, Greece, and Cyprus.
He stated that these countries “see reality as it is” and would work together to counter what he characterized as emerging extremist alliances, whether rooted in radical Shiite or radical Sunni movements.
Separately, plans are underway for the Prime Minister of India to visit Israel on Wednesday.
During the visit, he is expected to meet with Netanyahu, with military and technological agreements likely to be signed.
India has recently concluded defense arrangements with several Middle Eastern countries in developments observers associate with Israel.
Analysts suggest that this evolving cooperation forms part of the broader alliance concept referenced in Netanyahu’s remarks.
Strategic Context Netanyahu reportedly views the proposed coalition as a counterweight to two principal blocs:
A Sunni-aligned grouping spanning Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Syria, and parts of the Horn of Africa.
A Shiite-aligned axis including Iran, Iraq, Yemen’s Houthi movement, and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The proposed alignment signals an effort to consolidate geopolitical partnerships amid shifting power dynamics across the region.
