Chinese state-affiliated media outlet Chinaplus has reported that China has transferred the advanced YLC-8B radar system to Iran, significantly strengthening Tehranโs air defense capabilities.
The YLC-8B, often described as a โstealth aircraft hunter,โ is manufactured by China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC). The radar system is specifically designed to detect and track low-observable or stealth fighter jets, including advanced aircraft such as the F-35 and F-22.
According to the report, the YLC-8B radar is capable of identifying stealth aircraft at distances of up to 350 kilometers. This long-range detection capability could enhance Iranโs ability to monitor and respond to modern combat aircraft entering its airspace.
The reported transfer comes at a time of heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. Analysist Suggest that integrating such a radar system into Iran’s air defense network could strenghen it’s ability to monitor advanced aircrift operations in the region.
Neither Beijing nor tehran has publicly released detailed officail confirmation regarding the operational deployment of the system. Hover,if veified, the deployment would mark a notable expension of defense cooperation between china and Iran amid evolving regional security dynamics.
