According to a new United Nations report cited by the Associated Press (AP),
Syrian President Ahmed Sharac has been identified as the primary target of assassination plots orchestrated by ISIS.
The UN documented five foiled attempts over the past year aimed at President Sharac and two senior ministers within his administration.
The report linked these attacks to ISIS and an affiliate operating under the name Saraya Ansar al-Sunnah.
Authorities emphasized that the plans were thwarted before they could be carried out, highlighting the ongoing threats faced by Syria’s leadership from extremist groups.
