Newly released Epstein files revive questions about ties to powerful US figures
Newly released documents related to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have intensified scrutiny —
over his past connections with some of the most influential figures in the United States, including Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Howard Lutnick.
The latest disclosure, issued by the US Department of Justice, includes millions of pages of investigative material that shed new light on the extent of Epstein’s communications and relationships with wealthy and powerful individuals.
The release follows prolonged public pressure for transparency surrounding —
the case.Among the documents is a draft email in which Epstein made unverified claims about Bill Gates,
including allegations of personal misconduct.
Representatives linked to Gates strongly rejected the accusations,
describing them as entirely false and without evidence.
The files also contain email exchanges between Epstein and Tesla founder Elon Musk dating from 2012 to 2013,
years after Epstein had already been convicted of soliciting a minor.
In the messages, Musk appears to discuss potential visits to Epstein’s private Caribbean island.
However, there is no confirmation that any visit took place.
Musk later responded publicly, stating that his limited correspondence with Epstein had been taken out of context and insisting that he repeatedly declined invitations to visit the island or travel aboard Epstein’s private aircraft.
He added that he had long supported the full release of the Epstein files.Additional emails show that Howard Lutnick, now serving as US Commerce Secretary,
had interactions with Epstein during the same period, including discussions about a possible visit to the island.
A spokesperson said Lutnick’s interactions were minimal, involved no wrongdoing, and occurred in the presence of his spouse.
Despite the scale of the document release, survivors of Epstein’s abuse say that accountability remains incomplete.
A group of victims issued a statement arguing that while their identities continue to appear in files,
many alleged abusers remain unnamed and shielded from scrutiny.The survivors renewed calls for full transparency,
urging authorities to release all remaining documents and publicly address why key information remains withheld. Although officials say redactions were made to protect victim identities,
critics argue that the process continues to protect powerful individuals more than survivors.
The Epstein case remains one of the most controversial scandals in modern US history, raising ongoing questions about institutional accountability,
political influence, and the limits of transparency when elite figures are involved.
