Breaking || US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that threatens to impose tariffs on countries that maintain trade relations with Iran. Although the order does not specify exact tariff rates, it mentions a potential 25% tariff as an example.
The measure targets imports into the United States from any nation that directly or indirectly acquires goods or services from Iran.
From Air Force One, Trump reiterated his position that Iran must not develop nuclear weapons.
This executive order highlights the ongoing national emergency concerning Iran’s nuclear program, ballistic missile development, support for terrorism, and actions that destabilize the region and threaten US interests.
This development comes during active diplomatic talks between US and Iranian officials in Oman—the first since June 2025 after the US conducted airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Iran’s delegation is led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the US team includes Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law.
Trump described the talks as “very productive” and indicated that Iran is eager to reach an agreement but warned that failure to do so would result in severe consequences.
Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, who is mediating, described the discussions as helpful in clarifying both sides’ positions.
Despite diplomacy, tensions remain high. Trump warned Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to be “very concerned” about the possibility of military action.
Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful and denies US accusations of weapon development.
Meanwhile, the US has increased its military presence in the region, deploying what Trump calls a “massive armada” in response to Iran’s severe crackdown on recent protests.
Human rights organizations report thousands of deaths, but the full scope remains unclear due to internet shutdowns imposed by Iran.
