Somaliland President Meets Israeli Leader at Davos as Diplomatic Ties Deepen
The President of Somaliland, who is currently on a new foreign visit, has held a high-level dinner meeting with the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
In an official statement released late last night, the Somaliland president said the meeting focused on strengthening and advancing diplomatic relations between the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel. The discussions centered on political cooperation, regional engagement, and future diplomatic collaboration between the two sides.
The dinner meeting was attended by senior political figures and influential global leaders from various parts of the world. Among the notable attendees was Eric Trump, the son of the President of the United States, alongside other prominent international personalities with significant global influence.
This development comes amid growing regional attention following Israel’s reported move toward recognizing Somaliland. It further highlights the limited ability of the Federal Government of Somalia to restrict or control Somaliland’s international diplomatic engagements, despite Somalia formally maintaining authority over the airspace of the two regions.
Observers note that relations between Somaliland and Israel appear to be strengthening, even as the Federal Government of Somalia and several allied states have publicly opposed and condemned such diplomatic steps. Somaliland, however, has proceeded with what analysts describe as a strategic diplomatic move aimed at solidifying its international standing.

From a strategic perspective, Somaliland is seeking formal international recognition, particularly from Israel,
while Israel is reportedly interested in gaining access to strategically located sites that could host future
military or security facilities in the Horn of Africa.
Dalmar Updates, which has independently confirmed this development,
will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as they emerge.
