Jubaland forces move to secure President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe ahead of Mogadishu visit
Security forces attached to Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe are also reported to be heading to Mogadishu,
where they are expected to ensure the president’s personal security during his anticipated arrival in the capital.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the deployment comes after recent political tensions between President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the leadership of Jubaland and Puntland,
which have raised concerns within the regional administrations.
The tensions have reportedly fueled fears of possible arrest or politically motivated action against the regional leaders,
prompting both administrations to mobilize special security units to accompany their presidents to Mogadishu as a precautionary measure.
President Madobe is expected to arrive in Mogadishu later this week, following a peace appeal announced by President Hassan Sheikh,
aimed at easing tensions between the federal government and opposition figures, including leaders of federal member states.
The situation underscores the fragile political environment in Somalia, where security arrangements for senior leaders remain closely tied to ongoing disputes over power, governance,
and federal relations.
No official statements have yet been issued by Jubaland or federal authorities regarding the scope of the security deployment or the exact agenda of the expected meetings.
