Somali National Army Repels Major Al-Shabaab Attack, Retains Full Control of Jabad-Godane
In a significant military victory, the Somali National Army (SNA) has successfully repelled a multi-pronged assault by Al-Shabaab militants on the strategic area of Jabad-Godane, located near the Warshiikh district in the Middle Shabelle region.
Following an intense morning of combat, the military has officially confirmed that the territory remains firmly under the control of government forces.
Dalmar Updates Confirms the Details
Sources on the ground have informed Dalmar Updates that the attack began early this morning with a series of coordinated explosions aimed at breaching the military’s defensive lines.
However, the Somali National Army, having anticipated potential movement in the area, responded with precision and overwhelming force.
Our team has verified that after several hours of fierce fighting, the militant groups were forced to retreat, leaving the area secured by federal troops.
The Strategic Importance of Jabad-Godane
The area of Jabad-Godane is a vital location under the Warshiikh district, serving as a key corridor in the Middle Shabelle region.
By maintaining control, the SNA has effectively blocked a major transit route used by insurgents to move between the coast and the interior regions.
This victory is seen as a major blow to Al-Shabaab’s attempts to regain a foothold in Shabeellada Dhexe.
Ongoing Operations
Following the repelled attack, the military has initiated a “mopping-up” operation in the surrounding thickets to ensure no remnants of the attacking force remain.
The SNA command stated that their morale is high and they continue to expand their presence to guarantee the safety of the local population in and around Warshiikh.
