President Hassan Sheikh Receives Warm Welcome in Las Anod During Official Visit
Las Anod, January 16, 2026 —
The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, was warmly received today in the city of Las Anod, the administrative capital of Somalia’s North Eastern State, where he is attending the official inauguration ceremony of the State President and Vice President.
The President and his delegation were welcomed at the airport by senior officials of the regional administration, traditional elders, community leaders, women, and youth representatives, who expressed strong appreciation for the historic visit.
President Hassan Sheikh’s visit to Las Anod reflects the Federal Government’s continued commitment to strengthening national unity, territorial integrity, and cooperation between federal and regional authorities across Somalia.
During his stay in the North Eastern State, the President is expected to hold high-level meetings with regional leaders to discuss peacebuilding, reconciliation, governance, and the advancement of state-building efforts.
