Ayanle mohamed Protest Held in Mogadishu Against Somaliland RecognitionA protest organized by a group of Somali women took place today in Mogadishu,
at the Daljirka Dahsoon monument in the Banadir region.
The demonstration drew participants from all 20 districts of Banadir, who gathered to oppose what they described as a “false recognition” announcement attributed to Israel regarding Somaliland.
Some of the women protesters stated that “Israel is not a neighboring country, nor a people who share our religion or culture,
and we will not allow it to divide the Somali people or their land.”Another protester said,
“We will never accept Israel or what it has done. This is a provocative move aimed at tempting Somaliland and dividing Somali territory.
”The protest was described as an early step in efforts to block what demonstrators called Israel’s agenda,
with expectations that Somalia’s federal government will take a clear stance on the issue.
