The participation of Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) is considered politically significant, given their longstanding opposition to the federal government’s policies.
Both leaders have openly challenged the federal administration in recent months,
amid escalating political disputes and tensions over governance and electoral issues.
In response, the federal government has reportedly imposed strict political and administrative measures targeting the two regional administrations.
Despite these divisions, the upcoming talks are seen as a critical opportunity to ease tensions and address unresolved political disagreements between the federal leadership and opposition groups.
Political observers say the presence of the Puntland and Jubaland leaders could play a key role in shaping the outcome of the discussions, which are expected to focus on national reconciliation, electoral processes, and federal-state relations.
