On day 1,446 of the ongoing conflict, Russia intensified its offensive with massive air raids targeting Ukraine’s strategic port city, Odesa.
At least one civilian casualty was reported alongside damage to critical infrastructure. Russian forces also struck Naftogaz facilities in the Poltava region for the 19th time, further undermining Ukraine’s energy sector.
In territorial developments, Russian state media reported the capture of Hlushkivka in Kharkiv and Sydorivka in Sumy regions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned these attacks but stressed the legitimacy of targeting Russia’s energy infrastructure, which fuels its military capabilities.
Over the past week, Russian forces have launched more than 2,000 attack drones,
1,200 guided bombs, and over 100 missiles across Ukrainian cities and villages.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts press forward as Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized the need for direct talks between Ukrainian,
Russian, and US leaders to resolve the most sensitive issues.
Sybiha noted that the US is prepared to ratify security guarantees in Congress and provide a deterrent backstop without deploying troops.
Other nations beyond France and the UK have also expressed willingness to send forces as part of a deterrence mechanism should a ceasefire agreement be reached.
